“Homura Combat” 3D Action Shooter

Dec 27, 2011 @ 10:49 CST

As Comiket quickly closes in, as do the creative byproducts of its circles – a “3D action shooter game” entitled “Homura Combat“, allows otaku to wage warfare as Madoka’s well equipped mahou shoujo Homura.

Renowned for her vast arsenal of weapons from guns to golf clubs, Homura can now unleash everything upon a nearly endless wave of witches, as most enticing of all, a recreation of Walpurgis Night. Playing as Homura, you massacre witches in a rampage gameplay experience akin to Grand Theft Auto, minus the vehicle theft and modern day misappropriation. Enemies are indicated on your HUD radar in the top right – and directly below, the weapons which are currently in hand, as well as the respective name and remaining amount of ammunition.

The screen also shows the ever-essential component of health, called here “Vitality” in English, displayed in the form of a pink gauge. Beside it is a soul gem serving as either an indicator of her magical power, or perhaps something else along the lines of remaining energy.

As for her collection of killing utilities, the game is true to the anime, including her full range of firearms, explosives, homing missiles, and other miscellaneous lethal devices which the creators of the game state Homura will be “borrowing purchasing”, from a US military base. If you’ve yet to realize how immense the full line of Homura’s weapons are, they exist in such variety and abundance that there is a duly titled doujin “Homura’s Weapons” which, as you would have never guessed by the title, goes comprehensively in depth about all of her arms.

Yet even with such power and freedom, she’s not acting aimlessly – Homura receives periodic mission updates from the Incubator informing her on whatever further actions she must take to progress the adventure.

Assuming your PC can meet these specifications:

OS: Windows 7, Vista, XP with Japanese language
CPU: Core 2 Duo 2GHz or higher recommended
Memory: 2GB or more
VGA: Support Shader Model 3.0 or higher (required)

You may definitely want to keep an eye out for this soon to release game of Comiket 81 as for a doujin work, this looks to be a truly impressive feat of invention. Not to mention, who wouldn’t enjoy mass murdering pitiable creatures as a mahou shoujo?

No matter how well you play, in the end, GAME OVER *rewind time*
Very much like Earth Defense Force >_>

Certainly looks interesting! Makes me wonder just what other kinds of games you could centre the likes of Madoka around. It fits themes like shooter, fighter, platformer, VN all very well. Maybe even a racing or sports genre in courses designed after the witches lair thingys.

Then again, anything is really possible if you are Asian otaku with plenty of spare money, and lack a pastime

Within this game, you actually can use Homura’s ability to slow time down – making it easier to assault enemies. It may also serve others purposes, but that’s all I know for now.
