Kizumonogatari, the upcoming prequel film to the highly adored abstract supernatural series Bakemonogatari, had its very first preview released today – described simply, its a short video full of madness.
Basically, the PV consists of Arararagi twitching wildly whilst breathing heavily before his head literally explodes to the sound of a soda opening. Some jazzy music perhaps circa the 60′s or 70′s accompanies the video of his seizure-like affair – a completely unorthodox choice for an anime, made even more so unusual as the sound has a fuzzy filter over it for added aged effect.
Other than Ararararagi, we recognize almost none of the other characters – whether this is as they are new figures entirely, or simply due to a reworked art style is unclear. However we know for sure Hanekawa makes an appearance, alongside the strongest loli in the universe Shinobu.
Although absolutely no information on the movie has been released, the summary for the light novel offers an interesting first-person perspective synopsis.
I think it’s about time I talked about Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade. I believe it’s something I have to do. I met her in the spring break between my second and third years of high school. That meeting had such impact, and was also quite devastating.

Might one say this PV was so oddly unorthodox in its approach that it adhered unusually well to an admittedly unorthodox series?
You bet your tsundere-loving eyes it did.
