Madoka Majika addicts will enjoy fueling their passionate 2-D mahou shoujo compulsive obsession by learning of the very first and only official Madoka Majika guidebook to the series.
The book entitled “you are not alone” comes bearing essentially all one would need, or rather, desperately want to know about the series. It is a very image heavy tome with extravagant lush full color pages, exhibiting a small delectable array of official magazine artwork most fans are likely already familiar with in the beginning – then tsunderely switching to an astonishing spectacle of previously unreleased works and writings.
Other than the commonly found magazine illustrations, it also contains high quality episode screencaps with detailed explanations of the story, relevant staff commentary, and sketches of the designing process for every episode. The insight offered by the book is one which breaks down the complex story of Madoka Majika into a simple layout with some images.
It of course would not be complete without offering an in-depth individual analysis of the characters – which it does. Artworks of the characters from notable scenes, alternate angles, expressions, and attires, are all on display with their own commentary as well. This also applies for the creepy yet colorful witches – they are seen fancily showcased on pages with more or less their entire life story and images.
The book is perhaps even more so totally comprehensive than the earlier released staff involved doujin work at Comiket 80, the Madoka Archives, as this book also offers interviews with prominent staff members, discussions of the production phases, and character creation drafts. If even goes so far as to offer conceptual drawings of environments, effects, and objects.
All of which make this by far the most incredible and complete Madoka Majika encyclopedic work in existence.
