With a turn of events that can only be described as miraculous, ever adored story-lacking slice of life series Hidamari Sketch has been successfully confirmed for an impressive fourth season of enjoyable nothingness.
Hidamari Sketch was earlier generating some interest at Comiket 80, although it now certainly has something far more fantastic to show for it as confirmed by the official website. A fourth season of the simple series based around the lives of highschool girls enrolled in an arts program is one many have been anticipating.
The series had a fair bit of buzz surrounding its status after the third season’s corresponding OVAs aired. With each of its first season, the series had an accompanying set of OVAs and consistently met that standard for all three seasons – although after the release of the last OVA many wondered what was next.
Several new lovable characters were introduced in the third season – leaving many upset they wouldn’t have a chance to further develop if the animated series would go no further than a third season. Thankfully however, it seems that won’t be case.
Hidamari Sketch is quite popular in that it is a slice of life true to the genre – little actually happens, yet that ends up being a lot. It merely focuses on the everyday lives on its pack of female protagonists – showing us their interesting little adventures inside and outside of school. Needless to say, that turns out to be an unbelievably comical and enjoyable affair to watch, leaving us rather anxious for this fourth season.
