Madhouse founder Osamu Dezaki passes away

Ashita no Joe, a vintage anime series by Osamu Dezaki.

On April 17th 12:35 a.m. Osamu Dezaki passed away at the age of 67 from lung cancer. He was notable as the founder of Madhouse and director of many classic anime series such as Director of Ashita no Joe, Ace wo Nerae!, Rose of Versailles, Space Adventure Cobra just to name a few. He devised a unique art style known as “Dezaki Enshutsu (Dezaki Direction)” while directing Ashita no Joe, the style carries on in contemporary animes.
